Manga Book Review: A Gentlemen’s Agreement Between a Wolf and a Rabbit by Shinano Oumi

A gentlemen’s Agreement between a Wolf and a Rabbit by Shinano Oumi

English publication: Digital Manga Publishing

Romance and comedy

Fun, witty and sexy. Combined with smuttness and comedy. I was lucky to find this manga. I discovered it at my local library. It was tucked away covered by massive books. I was surprised to see this manga in a quite library.

At first glance It very smutty but as I read it I actually grown to the storyline. I borrowed it and check if it available to buy on Amazon or Book Depository. Book Depository has a copy to buy for £11.99 (pushing the price), I brought it for £8.99 via Amazon marketplace. I know June Manga are expensive and are rare to have so I brought it immediately.

The Male characters are hunky. Kairou and Togawa work at a toy company, they always have beef with each other. Everyone think they are enemy but behind closed door they are secretly love making.

This manga have 8 stories inside, Kai and Toga the main character and the other are sub stores. The relationship between Kai And Toga is very funny. They say sarcastic words. Togawa always attempts to get into Kairou’s downstairs department.

The side stories are fun to read too. My favourite is ‘Aroma of Romance’ a love affair between a sale man and a scientist.

The drawings are good, it on the masculine style of manga art style. Which it nice to see masculine couples together.

It is a feel good manga, My first choice to pick if I wanted something lighthearted with sauce on top,

You can buy this manga at Book Depository or via Amazon

I would recommend this manga as put of your BL collection. 4/6 stars

BL Manga Book Review: NightS by Kou Yoneda

NightS by Kou Yondea

It is one of those manga book that took me by surprise.

There are main stories Nights, Emotional Spectrum and Reply. The manga mainly focuses on attraction. it very sensual and moody. the artist used of tone to set the sensuous ambience of the night.

NightS and Relpy I enjoyed reading. I liked the intimate relationship between Masato Karashima and Musaki Hozumi.

The men are drawn greate and not overly stylised, realistic. The emotions and expressions are subtle and in dept. I felt the Mangaka artist wanted you to explore the characters thought and the build up of Intimacy before the bedroom scene. I thought the  dialogue is very well written.

The bedroom scene is short but very sensual and steamy.

Nights is an engaging read, you would want to take you time. the pages are easy to read with a simple layout.

The front art cover is beautiful illustrated and mysterious.

Personally I felt this manga was a work of art, brillanly executed and well though out characters. My top 5 mangas too read.  6/6 Stars

There is  Nights- Another Nights is an additional one shot manga available only on kindle to buy. where the bedroom scene between Masato Karashima and Musaki Hozumi get very saucy.

Three BL manga I would recommend you to read.

There is so much to choose from. It really goes by the readers personally preference. I would read any BL manga depending on my mood and what I fancy to read. I brought a range of mangas to read. (It’s like creating my own mini BL library at home)

There only a few manga books I would Constantly read.

Here are my top recommendation:

1. Junjo Romantica; By Shungiku Nakamura. great romantic storyline combined with hot smutt. A romantic story between a wealthy man and young student. You can read it for free on MangaFox.

2. Strange and Mystifying Story vol 1 and 2; by Tsuta Suzuki. A handsome mysterious demon with wolf ears cures an illness of a lonely young man. Beautifully drawing style and great romance.

3. Crimson Spell; by Ayano Yamane. fantasy action with lust. A love affair between a mage and Prince. The prince is cursed and turns into a demon at night. The Manga can only tame the demon by giving the prince sexual release. Absolute guilty pleasure!

This list can change anytime. I do have more BL manga book to share.

My Japanese studies so far

I have learnt so much grammar from Misa sensei on YouTube. Taking notes on Notebook app IOS.

Recently I been focusing on other creative projects. This has slow down my study progress. I get tired of doing a lot of activity. Especially mental work such as studying, writing or drawing.

I want to re think my learning #strategy.

I decided to take a break from studying Japanese till next month. But that does not mean I will do some passive learning. Also I should review my notes and practice speaking Japanese more daily. I can read out loud the Japanese notes Or writing from my dairy.

Italki.com

I have joined Italki.com, not to find a teacher yet. But to write my notebook on Italki. I submit my journal entry on italki for people to make correction. This encourages me to write in Japanese and to get some grammar tips from native Japanese people.

Italki.com is good to find a penpal / language exchange partner. My language level is not a good level enough to speak confidently to native speaker. I get really nervous speaking to people online. I would like to take my time first before going to the next level.

I listen to Japanese radio on podcast. There are good podcast to listen about news, interviews and music. I have a good few podcast I have subscribed to. These podcast station regular update daily. It’s relaxing listening to podcast. I listen to Japanese podcast on the bus or when I am working. They are better to use than other radio apps.

Japanese journal writing

I continue to write my one journal entry daily in Japanese. It is easier to use app such as OneDay app. Plus you can add Japanese keyboard on your iPad, phone or computer.

I brought recently Japanese English Bilingual Visual Dictionary (DK Bilingual Dictionaries. Seriously recommend to buy for your your writing. Combine this visual dictionary with the grammar , adjectives and verbs then you are good to go.

Plus you can download the app to this dictionary once you one. Just simply follow the instructions on from the book.

They have the dictionary in other languages too.

Other books I brought recently are Travel Journal log book called Hokkaido Highway Blues: Hitchhiking Japan. I wanted to read about Japanese culture and learn more about the history and the people. I actually really enjoy reading Hokkaido Highway Blues: Hitchhiking Japan, It is witty, funny and insightful! (The print is tiny So it can be hard to read, which can hurt the eyes) It was really interesting to get an outside point of view of the Japan.

I want to look for more Japanese travel logs books. I never thought reading travel journal books are interesting. It like traveling in the comfort in your own home. I am fantastic to read other travel log book from different countries.

What travel writing books would you recommend for me to read?

Art Book Review: Jean Haines Atmospheric Watercolour, painting freedom, Expression and style

book

The best watercolouring book I brought is Jean Haines’ Atmospheric Watercolour, painting freedom, Expression and style’ . It is a fantastic book for techniques and tricks in water colour painting. it is a big book, visually descriptive, easily explains, this book is a little unconventional than the other watercolour books. It has inspirational quotes and has Jean’s beautiful watercolour paintings. She has a different approach to watercolouring which will be good for anyone who is interested in contemporary or expressional art works.

There are other book by Jean Haines available on Amazon store or bookstores.
